Welcome to Maia Lyon-Daw's pages.

Maia Lyon-Daw is a Scottish audiovisual performing artist living and working in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
She graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie with a BFA Audiovisual in July 2009, participated in the European Exchange Academy Residency near Berlin in Summer 2007, and prior to this completed a BA in Religious Studies/Philosophy at the University of Stirling, Scotland, in 2005.
She recently travelled to India to work on projects for an artist residency Exhibition in Chennai, in February 2010. In Summer 2010 she participated in the Iceland Residency Flateyri/Reykjavik culminating with Kaosmosis: an international group Show at Kling og Bang, Reykjavik.

Her work incorporates various media, interlaced with specific, connected themes and concepts springing from the source of her fascinations. Her main focus and creative outlet is in the marriage of performance, ritual, music and writings. A core element throughout much of her practice is the transposing of found structures through various marinades, to present them in a new light thus providing new insights and questions.

She is currently active in her musical outfit 'The Wolf, Death and the Acorn', an act which includes experimental and ritualistic live elements; in 'Treehouse', a band led by Yutaka Hoshino; in 'Avelãs Noise Quartet', a DNK initiative; and in numerous other collaborations.

She is the founder of Cottage Industry Records, a small record label that acts as an umbrella for local lo-fi musical acts, organising events and releases.
